I Miss Getting Invitations….

I Miss Getting Invitations….

Free stock photo of love, writing, gift, letter

No church is perfect. Each has clinics that I like and dislike. I especially like people who exercise the open communion meaning all are welcome to participate. What I miss is the altar call. Granted, when I was a child listening to all six verses of a hymn waiting for somebody to come forward so we could end felt like forever.

We have gotten contemporary music and denominations to accommodate every taste of styles people are drawn to. What’s missing is the invitation to get a connection with the savior we worship.

When I was five, my father asked if I wanted to go down the aisle. I didn’t understand what that meant at the moment. I thought we were going to see Gilligan. When we got to the front, the woman next to me was crying. She stated they were happy tears. I didn’t know that either.

Later that week, the pastor came to our house and explained it to me. We prayed and I asked Jesus into my heart. I was baptized soon after.

As soon as I held services for four years at our local men’s rescue mission, I didn’t offer an altar call because I thought that the staff may not want a woman who was not a pastor doing it. I sang and shared stories. I did build relationships with the men and they told me I made a difference in their own lives.

If I ever get the chance again, I will. The excellent thing about music is the message within the lyrics. Perhaps you have heard a song you could not get out of your head?

Additionally, the wonderful thing about writing is the reader determines what they will do with the words in their lifetime. I’d like to share what I wish I had mentioned to the men. You’re here for a reason. Your choices may have led you to the place but you get to choose where to go from here. Jesus willingly laid down his life for our sins, mistakes, whatever you want to call them. He’s waiting to walk with you. You never have to walk alone again.

Please come. People are flawed and some will disappoint you. You’re welcome at the table. Lay your burdens at his feet. I care and so does he.

Does Music Affect You?

Does Music Affect You?

Close-up Photo of a Woman Listening to Music

Music isn’t just a set of sounds and rhythms. Its influence on the brain is significantly deeper than any other human experience. Keep on reading to learn all truly enigmatic powers of music.

Music helps preterm babies

Preterm babies appear to experience less pain and feed more when listening to music, a recent study indicates. Experts led by Dr. Manoj Kumar of the University of Alberta, Canada, analyzed nine clinical trials and found that music had a beneficial effect on reducing pain for preterm babies undergoing painful procedures like heel prick blood tests. Additionally, it seemed to benefit full-term infants during surgeries.

Premature infants have to stay longer under medical supervision to gain weight and get stronger. To accelerate this process, many hospitals fall back to serene, pleasant music. Canadian scientists discovered that music reduces pain sensitivity and improves the sucking reflex in such infants, contributing to the weight gain. Music is also a fantastic way to get newborns off to sleep.

Many people experienced cerebral damage have address and movement-related problems. As an alternative and effective treatment, doctors often recommend such patients to listen to good music to stimulate the areas of the brain responsible for these two functions. When individuals with neurological disorders brought on by a stroke or Parkinson’s disease hear a musical beat, it helps them to regain a symmetrical walk and feel of balance.

Music staves off the loss of hearing

Surely, music won’t cure deafness but it really can stop the loss of hearing. There was an experiment between 163 individuals where 74 were musicians.

Participants were requested to pass some listening tests. Musicians heard the sounds better than non-musicians, and this difference gets more evident with aging. This means that a 70-year-old musician hears better than a 50-year-old non-musician, even in a noisy environment.

Music heals a broken heart

No, it isn’t about a cast-off love, but about a heart attack. The matter is music can help people recovering from a heart seizure or cardiac surgery by reducing blood pressure, slowing down the heartbeat rate, and relieving anxiety. Listening to the quality music evokes positive emotions, improves circulation, and expands blood vessels, thus, promoting quick rehabilitation of the whole cardiovascular system.

Utilize the energy of upbeat songs you associate with positive memories, rather from the more distant past when you felt secure, on top of your game, and happy. Avoid songs that even remotely pull you into the emotions of your separation. Train your brain out of its funk by listening often and with intent.

Heart Health

Heart Health

Following a heart-healthy diet can do a lot to reduce risk, but for a lot of people, it’s not enough. Heart-protecting drugs usually come with bothersome side effects, such as fatigue and the chance of liver disease. For some risk factors, like homocysteine and low-density lipoprotein prescriptive drugs aren’t available.

I. Total Cholesterol: Desirable cholesterol is below 200; borderline high is between 200 and 239; high is 240 and above.

Plant sterols. Beta-sitosterol and other plant sterols have a chemical structure similar to that of Raccoon Removal cholesterol, which enables them to decrease the absorption of cholesterol from the gut. Several studies have found that plant sterols can lower cholesterol levels by an average of 6 to 8 percent. Take sterol supplements 2 to 3 times a day, products labeled plant sterols, phytosterols, or beta-sitosterol.

Niacin: This kind of vitamin B-3 has been known since the 1950’s to decrease cholesterol levels. Approved by the Food and Drug Administration for reducing cholesterol, it’s sold both by prescription and over the counter. As effective as niacin is, it triggers the release of histamine, which frequently will turn the skin beet red and tingly for about one hour. If you keep taking niacin, the intense flushing episodes should eventually ease. Once or twice a day and work up to 500 to 1,000 mg. Three times a day.

Coenzyme Q10: Individuals who have to take statin drugs should also take 100 to 200 mg. Of CoQ10 a day because statins can deplete the body’s natural source.

Low-Density Lipoprotein (LDL) Cholesterol: Small, dense LDL globules are a lot more likely to cause blood clots than are larger, less dense ones. And when a individual’s antioxidant intake is reduced, LDL oxidation increases, which seems to be a vital step in the progression of heart disease. If complete LDL is high, it may be wise to have an additional blood test to find out which type predominates.

Beneficial Nutritional Supplements: Plant sterols can lower LDL levels by an impressive 8 to 14 percent. Take sterol supplements two to three times per day, products labeled plant sterols, phytosterols, or beta-sitosterol.

Vitamin E: Won’t lower LDL, but will curb its tendency to promote heart disease. Contrary to common thinking, LDL is not entirely bad – it’s needed to transport fat-soluble nutrients, such as vitamin E and coenzyme Q10, throughout the bloodstream. Take 400 to 800 IU of natural-source vitamin E.

Dietary Options: To lower LDL, lower your intake of saturated fat (in fatty meats and dairy products) and avoid processed foods containing trans fats such as most shortenings, partially hydrogenated oils, and most cookies and crackers in the marketplace.

High-Density Lipoprotein (HDL) Cholesterol: HDL is widely regarded as the “good” type of cholesterol, mainly because it helps transport the LDL or bad cholesterol to the liver where the LDL is then processed for excretion. The higher your HDL levels, the lower your risk of cardiovascular disease.

Ideal HDL levels are 55 mg. /dL or greater for girls and 45 mg/dL or greater for men.

Beneficial Nutritional Supplements:

L-carnitine: A part of protein, is highly recommended.

Fish Oil “Omega 3” Supplements: Contain eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) – both essential dietary fats that boost HDL. They’re also powerful blood thinners so that they stop clotting, and they help to regulate heart rhythm.

You may experience an intense one-hour flushing sensation after your take it. Aim for 500 to 1,000 mg. three times daily.

Dietary Options: To boost HDL, do not worry too much on fats, particularly heart-healthy fish oils and olive oil. Low-fat diets, long suggested to decrease the risk of cardiovascular disease, actually lower HDL levels. Cut back on refined carbs, which can decrease HDL.

Triglycerides: Triglycerides actually account for many fat found in the blood and in body fat. A higher ratio of triglycerides to HDL has been associated with a significant increase in heart attack risk.

/dL is considered normal. or less. Levels of 150 to 199 mg. are borderline high, and 200 mg. and above are considered high.

Beneficial Nutritional Supplements:

Fish Oil Supplements: Can lead to remarkable reductions in triglyceride levels. In certain studies, plant sterols also have been shown to reduce triglycerides.

Dietary Options: Triglyceride levels are directly linked to the quantity of processed carbohydrates you eat, so lower your intake of table sugar, white bread, cookies and other sweets, refined pasta, and bagels, and focus instead on whole grains.

Homocysteine: Homocysteine is normally a short-lived byproduct of protein metabolism – it is only when levels become elevated that they cause trouble. If you eat lots of veggies, particularly the ones that include folic acid such as spinach, romaine lettuce, and other greens, there’s a great chance your homocysteine is at healthy levels.

The American Heart Association considers normal levels to be from 5 to 15 micromoles per liter of blood. Ideal levels are under 7.

Beneficial Nutritional Supplements:

Three B Vitamins are particularly helpful in breaking down homocysteine: folic acid (1,000 to 5,000 mcg. daily), vitamin B-6 (25 to 50 mg. daily), and vitamin B-12 (2,000 mcg. daily.)

Dietary Options: Load up on leafy greens: spinach, romaine lettuce.

V. Glucose Tolerance

Beneficial Nutritional Supplements: Many supplements can help stabilize and lower glucose and insulin levels, but in the event that you already take glucose-regulating drugs, be sure to work with your physician to adjust their dose.

Alpha-Lipoic Acid: An antioxidant, is widely used in Germany to treat peripheral neuropathy, a nerve disease brought on by diabetes. Studies have found that it can lower both insulin and glucose levels. Take 100 to 300 mg. daily.

Chromium Picolinate: An essential mineral, has been shown to lower cholesterol and glucose levels. Take 400 to 1,000 mcg. daily.

Cinnamon: Can lower fasting glucose, total cholesterol, and cholesterol levels.

Ginseng Supplements: 1 to 3 grams of American ginseng (Panax quinqufolius L.) significantly reduced the increase in blood glucose.

Silymarin: The antioxidant-rich extract of milk thistle, is well known for increasing liver action. Italian researchers found that 600 mg. Of silymarin daily reduced several important measures of glucose tolerance, including fasting glucose and insulin, over the course of a year.

Raccoon, Wild, Furry, Animal World

There are a lot of interesting facts about raccoons and Wildlife Control Service Melbourne, but before indulging in them, it’s good to have a brief understanding of what the raccoon species is all about.

Guide of a Raccoon

Raccoons are a medium-sized animal, with grey fur, and a long tail that is striped. They are often seen with a black stretch of fur straight above their eyes, giving them the appearance of wearing a bandit’s mask; thus the nickname, “little bandits”. They usually weigh anywhere from 8 to 20 pounds, and stand at 1 to 2 ft, on its hind legs. That’s full adult size. They also have very human like hands that are great at grasping and even better for climbing.

Raccoons are also called “little bandits” due to their curiosity and cleverness in residential areas. They can snoop and rip through trash cans and dumpsters searching for food in the middle of the night, rather than get caught. This is what most people think of when you say,  “Raccoon”.

Their gestation period ranges from a month or two, or about 65 days. They usually have anywhere from two to five pups per litter. After about fourteen days, the pups can eat solid food and also leave the den to explore. They are eventually weaned completely by 16 weeks or so. The mother shows them feeding grounds and dens, and the teenage raccoons then split up and head off by themselves.

For food, they’ll eat nearly anything. They are undoubtedly among the most intriguing omnivores known to man. Contagious Diseases in Wild Raccoons

Just like any animal in nature, raccoons are vulnerable to many types of illness or disorders. That’s the reason they could be carriers of almost anything. Their scavenger-like diet and rummaging customs make them more vulnerable to a wide range of infections. Rabies is caused by a virus and is almost always fatal. Raccoons can be carriers of this virus and not show any indications for months or even years. Just because a raccoon does not appear rabid, does not mean they’re not carriers of the rabies virus. It’s typically spread through bodily fluids, such as saliva from a raccoon bite, scratch, or accidental contamination in an open wound or body orifice. People and pets can take precautions by having rabies vaccinations to prevent fatalities and severe sickness if bitten by a rabid animal.

Another infectious disease found in raccoons is called Baylisascaris, or raccoon roundworm. Typically, female raccoons pass Baylisascaris eggs in Squirrel Poop. This is where the disease can spread. If people or creatures accidentally ingest these eggs in soil, water, or by other means, they can become ill within a week. The eggs hatch into larva and spread throughout the body, causing digestive and intestinal complications. Common symptoms include fatigue, loss of coordination and muscle control, blindness, and even coma. Even though the illness is rare, there’s a reliable treatment. It’s important to get treatment as soon as you are aware of an issue.

Leptospirosis is another sort of communicable infection which could be transferred by accidental contamination or ingestion. Caused by the Leptospira bacteria. It is located in the urine of raccoons and many other wild animals as well; like rats and mice. If the infected urine comes into contact with a person or animals eyes, mouth, saliva, throat, or open wound, they are prone to infection. It triggers flu-like symptoms; including coughing, fever, headache, muscle soreness, and in most severe cases, kidney malfunctioning. Get treatment immediately in the event that you feel you’ve come into contact with infected raccoon saliva or urine.

Squirrels On Your Property

Squirrels On Your Property

Due to their cute and cuddly nature and adorable fluffy tails, people will frequently forget when they see a squirrel that it’s in fact a rodent that may cause extensive property damage while in search of food. Squirrels are naturally clever and will often find strategies to acquire food that other rodents wouldn’t normally be able to access, like eating from bird feeders situated high off the ground or pop up seeds, nuts, and bulbs which were found by their excellent little noses. They’re also curious by nature and will easily explore new places for food or a appropriate den.

Others consider squirrels a viable food supply through the United States; they’re however high in cholesterol and have a strong gamey flavor.

Squirrels build nests to live in, and these can often be seen both high in trees and burrowed in the ground. In squirrel infested areas that border residential houses they’ll also find attics and basements great living environments; and they will often use whatever materials that are found inside the house to construct their nest. Power outages are also occasionally as a result of a curious animal wandering through a grounded power line, and these little guys were proven to topple even the mighty NASDAQ stock market.

Keeping squirrels out of your house can often prove problematic for the typical homeowner, particularly if there’s a large population of them nearby. However, Wildlife Control Melbourne FL companies can handle this situation for you. This species can get very territorial during mating season (or after giving birth) and a silent attic can often come to be the ideal hideout for these animals. In northern regions it’s also important not to forget the chimney; using their excellent climbing ability squirrels can go directly down inside of it. If a professional is required, they’ll install little metal cages to trap the creature within and utilize favorite treats such as nuts or peanut butter as incentives.

Things You Didn’t Know About Squirrels

Things You Didn’t Know About Squirrels

Squirrel, Rodent, Wildlife, Eating, Nut

Though most people are familiar with squirrels (after they all appear to be anywhere you find trees) there are a couple things that may surprise you. A lot of the times you may find chewed up wires or openings in the walls which were created by squirrels; this is because they have teeth that grow their whole lives. A squirrel’s diet isn’t simply food and nuts that people dispose of. Their diet is filled with unique things like tree bark, roots, acorns and leaves as well as a few little insects. Some squirrels can’t break down foods like cellulose, meaning that they can avoid tree bark for a food source entirely.

They Constantly Collect Food

Squirrels collect food all year long, but they’ll be more active in their food gathering procedure in the autumn, just prior to the winter. This can be done as a step to have meals available in the winter once the food isn’t quite as simple to get. The squirrel will hide the food and return to it after the winter hibernation period has finished. The food saved will generally last long enough to maintain the squirrel until fresh food sources are found.

Squirrels Warn Other Animals Of Risk

Squirrels aren’t the greedy animals people think them to be; actually the opposite is true. Squirrels will warn the others of a threat when they think danger is near. Rather than running away, the hive that sends that sign is generally the last one to leave.

The squirrel’s eyesight becomes generally better as they reach maturity. Adult mothers are among those critters to have close to perfect vision as adults. The perfect vision however isn’t the case when they’re born. A baby squirrel is actually born blind and that makes the mother’s attention a lot more significant.

The little brown bat is one of the most common bats seen in North America. Also called the Little Brown Myotis, and technically known as Myotis lucifugus, the little brown bat is exactly as its name suggests: small and brown. Adults males are normally 6 to 10 centimeters, no bigger than a human thumb, and weigh and average of 5 to 14 grams. Interestingly enough, females are a bit larger than males, but they both share brown  fur, dark brown wing membranes, along with a 22 to 27 centimeter wingspan. Little brown bats are insectivores, and use their 38 teeth, sharp molars and canines to grasp hard-bodied insects, mid-flight. Even though they appear to look the same as Indiana bats, the little brown bat is distinguishable by the lack of a keel on the calcar and long hairs on the hind feet.

You can assume that the Big Brown bat is the opposite of the Little Brown bat in many ways, but not all. The Big Brown bat, or Eptesicus fuscus, is brown, also larger in size, averaging between 10 to 13 centimeters in length, 14 to 16 grams in weight, and 28 to 33 centimeters in wingspan. They’re similar to Little Brown bats in that they’re nocturnal, use echolocation for navigation, and keep an insectivore’s diet.

The Mexican Free-Tailed Bat
